Extra Curricular Activities
All of the extra curricular clubs are accredited to the Children's University.
At ball game club it is a chance for us to develop our hand, eye and foot co-ordination with a range of games. We look at a different skill each week and see how we can improve.
We develop our art skills right across the school in our Art clubs. Some children have the chance to learn digital art skills on the computer, and others develop finer art skills including models and cutting techniques.
In theatre club we have the chance to be able to apply and develop our speaking and listening skills. We work as a group to create small performances and increase our confidence in acting in front of an audience.
Year 5 and 6 Booster
Booster group is a chance for us to work with our teachers outside of normal lessons. We look at things we have already done in school and sometimes practice things that we have coming up.
Film club is a chance for the us to sit together and enjoy a film. We are able to talk about things we like, things we were scared of and parts we found funny.
At ukulele club we get a music specialist, Mr Cockshott, to come into school and work on our ukulele playing skills! We are getting really good and even have the chance to perform in concert.
All the children in Year 5 and 6 get to fit with lots of high intensity exercises and fun games. Following the principles of a cross-fit class, we develop our agility, balance and core.
We are so lucky to have a wonderful Science Garden at Ryders Green and we take full advantage of it! In science club we get to do lots of interesting and sometimes messy experiments to help develop our investigative skills, whilst also learning lots!
Gardening, Creepy Crawlie and Green Fingers Club
We have some lovely outdoor areas at Ryders Green and all the children across the school play a part in keeping them maintained. In our outdoor clubs we become bug hunters, grow vegetables and create beautiful flower beds for the whole school to enjoy.
At multi-skills club it is a chance to develop our skills across a wide variety of team games. We pick a different focus each week, and improve with guidance from our Aspire coaches.
At singing club we get together with our coach from Sandwell Music Service to learn and improve on singing skills. This year, we are preparing for the Young Voices concert at the Genting Arena – how exciting!
Netball club is a great chance for us to play this team game and develop our skills. We focus on passing, movement and positioning on the court to make sure we stand the best chance of winning!
We have the opportunity to learn to play lots of different instruments in school – Year 3 learn to play the trumpet and for others we have our own music lessons. At brass band, we all come together to play as one and share our passion for music.
Football club is always so popular and so many children in Key Stage Two take part. We concentrate hard on our passing and positioning on the pitch. Each week we seem to be getting a little better and really focusing on working as a team.
