In reception children learn through play. They are provided with a wealth of experiences that helps prepare them for their learning journey through Ryders Green.
Children have a mix of adult led, adult initiated and independent activities planned throughout the day. There is daily RWI, Maths and Topic sessions with an hour of free flow time in the morning and afternoon. During free flow, children have the opportunity to take ownership over their learning and select activities and resources independently. Adults support the children’s learning during this time, by asking questions, supporting and extending the children’s learning.
Staff gather assessment evidence over each day by making observations of the children’s learning, taking photo’s and keeping work the children have completed independently. The assessments gathered are then put in to the child’s individual learning journeys. Parents have access to their child’s learning journeys during stay and play sessions and parents evenings.
