Year 3 is the first year of Key Stage 2. Children will continue to learn new concepts and new vocabulary. They will become increasingly independent and able to co-construct their curriculum. The children must always be aware that the quality of their work is of primary importance.
During Year 3 at Ryders Green the learning is focused around different topic areas during the year.
Autumn - 'Where on Earth are we?' and 'What was new about the New Stone Age?'
We have two really exciting topics to look forward to during the Autumn term in Year 3. We will start by learning about our location on the earth, using globes and maps to explore where our country is. We also have the chance to go swimming this term and learn to play the trumpet, these are both skills and talents we cannot wait to master.
After half term, we start looking at the Stone Age. This period in history is one we do not know much about but we will have a fantastic time investigating, analysing and discovering new facts about the era. We will also have some visitors into school from the Think Tank to share some science knowledge about forces with us!
Spring - 'Is climate cool?' and 'How unpleasant were the Bronze and Iron Ages?'.
Summer - 'Do you like to be beside the seaside?' and 'How much did the Ancient Egyptians achieve?'.
